Our Oakfield Road public realm improvements are a key aspect of the wider urban regeneration of Ilford Town Centre.

Isometric view showing proposed street improvements
Our proposal focuses on permanently pedestrianising the street to align with Ilford Town Centre's strategic goals of improving air quality, addressing localised flooding, and creating a green space where local cultural institutions can extend their activities and spill into. The beloved Kenneth More Theatre, Redbridge Library and Museum, and Town Hall will all be stitched together by these humble and impactful improvements.
Enhancing accessibility and introducing new trees along with a diverse range of plantings will provide a backdrop for urban theatre performances, parades, and everyday life. People will be able to enjoy their lunch, take a moment to listen to the sounds of birdsong, and immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the market.
