Burneside Village

Burnseside Village is a collection of 40 affordable and adaptable houses in the lake district. The masterplan is inspired by the grain of Burneside - low stone walls and high hedgerows create privacy and act as spatial organising devices. To the west of the site the houses open up at an angle to allow long views between them. The overall arrangement allowing for an intensity of housing whilst not feeling overly crowded.

The centre and west of the site is given to shared landscape with communal allotments, a picnic garden, wilderness play and outdoor exercise areas, as well as cycle parking and shared e-car parking. Along the western edge is an ecological strip with meandering paths, a contemplation garden and barbecue area.
